China Signs Landmark Agreement with Michigan Company

Lansing, Michigan, USA -- On December 12, 2000, the China Association for Standardization (CAS) executed a landmark agreement with Chinese Computer Communications, Inc. (CCC) to promote the use of Internet-Chinese developed by CCC as a new standard script, akin to English on the Internet. On the Internet, this modernized script is especially useful for business negotiations and for official communications. CCC ratified this CAS-CCC Agreement on December 21, 2000.

CAS is a branch of the China Quality Assurance Bureau, whose officials must sign off on all products sold and distributed in China. The joint agreement permits CAS-CCC to conduct training courses for high-tech companies and educational institutions in the People’s Republic of China. This joint project will set standard and establish Internet-Chinese language with an efficient and unified e-script for business conducted by Chinese-speaking people on the WWW.

In addition, the agreement will promote Internet-Chinese as an alternate script to English and to traditional Chinese square characters in e-Business. The e-script will improve Chinese language efficiency and accuracy in communications on the Net with WTO business partners. By this Agreement, CAS has officially endorsed CCC’s Global Tenstrokes Alphabet system for Internet-Chinese communications, business negotiations, and for educational purposes to modernize elementary education within China. The CAS-CCC partnership provides a model to enhance and accelerate US-China commercial transactions and global trade.

The first joint CAS-CCC project of Internet-Chinese training program was held at the Olympic Hotel on November 3, 2000, Beijing, China. The next program is scheduled at Peking University Elementary School on January 16, 17 and 18, 2001, Beijing, China. The program is designed for teachers and directors of education on CCC’s PalmMaster curriculum with the Tenstrokes Alphabet, using handheld computers as PDA’s (Palm Digital Assistants). This Internet-Chinese PDA workshop will be organized by Professor Lin Jian-xiang, Peking University and Director Li Jian-xin, Beijing Elementary School.

Meanwhile, CCC is now seeking business partners and educational institutions to explore this unique commercial and educational opportunity.
